President Mirziyoyev Meets with Pakistani PM Shahbaz Sharif in Astana
Astana, The Gulf Observer: During his working visit to Astana, President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev held a significant meeting with Prime Minister of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan Shahbaz Sharif. The discussions centered on enhancing the Uzbek-Pakistani strategic partnership, with a focus on trade, economic cooperation, investment, and transport-communication sectors.
The meeting underscored the robust and growing bilateral relationship between Uzbekistan and Pakistan. Both leaders highlighted the increase in mutual trade volumes, freight transportation, and the establishment of joint ventures.
President Mirziyoyev emphasized the necessity of creating favorable conditions to boost trade turnover within the framework of the Preferential Trade Agreement. Both sides agreed on the importance of adopting a joint Program of Industrial Cooperation for 2025-2026, which will include projects in agriculture, textiles, pharmaceuticals, chemicals, and other key sectors.
An agreement was reached to organize this year’s session of the Intergovernmental Commission, a business forum, and an industrial exhibition, further cementing the cooperative ties between the two nations.
The discussion also highlighted the significance of the Trans-Afghan Railway construction project, with both leaders expressing their commitment to joint efforts in its implementation.
The meeting concluded with an exchange of views on regional issues, reaffirming the strategic partnership between Uzbekistan and Pakistan and their shared vision for regional stability and development.
