President Mirziyoyev Surveys Ongoing Construction at Tashkent-East Airport

Tashkent, The Gulf Observer: On 4 September 2024, the President of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, conducted an inspection of the ongoing construction at the Tashkent-East Airport, a key project in the country’s broader transportation infrastructure development plan. This project is part of a wider effort that includes the modernization and commissioning of airports in Samarkand, Termez, Muynak, Zaamin, Kokand, and Urgench.

The Tashkent-East Airport has already seen the successful completion of a 4-kilometer-long runway, designed to accommodate large aircraft. Currently, construction efforts are focused on two terminals, a parking apron, and specialized hangars to serve business aviation and high-ranking officials. The airport will be equipped with advanced ICAO Category III-A radio and meteorological technology to ensure safe operations, even under adverse weather conditions.

During his visit, President Mirziyoyev was presented with the external and internal design plans for the new terminals. He underscored the importance of the terminal facade embodying a national aesthetic, with warm colors and designs that reflect Uzbekistan’s rich cultural heritage. Additionally, the facilities are being designed to host official meetings and accommodate high-level international guests.

Located near the “Yangi Uzbekistan” park and the Olympic Village, the President also directed efforts to enhance the surrounding environment. His instructions included greening the areas with trees and flowers, and incorporating decorative elements that showcase the country’s culture and artistic traditions. This comprehensive approach aims to align the airport’s modern infrastructure with Uzbekistan’s national identity, ensuring it becomes a symbol of the country’s progress and hospitality.
