President of Turkmenistan holds phone talks with Iranian President

Ashgabat, The Gulf Observer: President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov had a telephone conversation with President of Iran Seyyed Ebrahim Raisi, the official Turkmen media reported on Tuesday.

The heads of the two countries expressed satisfaction with developing fruitful Turkmen-Iranian relations within the framework of bilateral and international organisations based on traditional mutual respect and trust principles.

During the conversation, they noted that cooperation in the trade and economic system is a priority for Turkmen-Iranian relations. In this context, the sides highlighted the importance of the joint Turkmen-Iranian intergovernmental commission on economic cooperation.

During the telephone conversation, the sides emphasised the active maintenance of trade and economic relations between the two countries, focusing on three key areas. Notably, they highlighted the gas sector as one of the most significant fields within these relations.

Highlighting the role of cultural and humanitarian cooperation in fortifying interstate relations, fostering closer bonds between nations, and facilitating the exchange of cultural wealth, the Turkmen leader expressed optimism about the ample opportunities for bolstering bilateral collaboration in the realms of science, education, culture, arts and sports.

At the end of the telephone conversation, the Presidents of Turkmenistan and Iran wished each other good health, further success in responsible state affairs, peace, well-being and prosperity to the fraternal nations of both countries.
