President Pezeshkian Urges Muslim Nations to Unite, Cut Ties with Israel Ahead of OIC-Arab League Summit

Tehran, The Gulf Observer: President Masoud Pezeshkian has urged Muslim nations to strengthen unity and sever ties with Israel in response to what he described as the regime’s escalating aggression across the region. He emphasized the importance of coordinated economic, cultural, and social measures to counter the occupying regime.

Speaking in Tehran on Monday before departing for Qatar to attend an emergency summit of heads of state of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) and the Arab League, President Pezeshkian said the meeting, convened at the invitation of the Emir of Qatar, would address Israel’s “blatant aggression” carried out in violation of international law.

“The Zionist regime recognizes no boundaries or frameworks for its actions,” Pezeshkian stated, pointing to Israeli strikes against several Islamic countries, including Qatar, Lebanon, Iraq, Iran, and Yemen. He criticized the United States and European nations for their continued support of Israel’s actions.

Condemning Israel’s ongoing assault on Gaza, the president denounced the killing of women, children, and the elderly, accusing Western states of providing political cover and material support to the “apartheid Zionist regime.”

Pezeshkian expressed hope that the summit in Doha would yield tangible outcomes, particularly in advancing accountability for Israel through international legal mechanisms. “Islamic countries must enhance their unity and pursue these crimes at international and legal bodies,” he said.

Reiterating his call for collective action, Pezeshkian urged Muslim nations to cut all forms of cooperation with Israel. “If Muslims act as one hand, they will not dare to invade our countries and trample on international laws,” he stressed.

The emergency summit in Doha follows heightened regional tensions, including Israeli strikes targeting leaders of the Palestinian resistance movement, Hamas, in Qatar on September 9. Leaders from across the Islamic world are expected to deliberate on joint responses to the crisis.
