President Pezeshkian Visits 36th Tehran International Book Fair

Tehran, The Gulf Observer: President Masoud Pezeshkian toured the 36th Tehran International Book Fair on Friday morning, underscoring the importance of books in reflecting contemporary social issues and promoting cultural progress.
Speaking during his visit, President Pezeshkian stated that books should meet the current needs of society and serve as a platform for expert insight across various fields. “Books are created by experts and intellectuals; people deserve the freedom to choose what they need,” he said, stressing the role of literature as a tool for cultural and social development.
He further emphasized that books are not merely sources of knowledge but instruments capable of enhancing public discourse and contributing to the improvement of societal conditions.
The 36th edition of the Tehran International Book Fair, held under the theme “Let’s Read for Iran,” opened on May 7 at Imam Khomeini Mosalla in northern Tehran and will run through May 17. This year, Iraq is the Guest of Honor, reflecting deepening cultural ties between the two neighboring countries.
The fair brings together publishers, authors, and cultural institutions from across the region and beyond, offering a diverse range of literary works and fostering dialogue on pressing cultural and intellectual issues.
