President Prabowo Calls for Comprehensive Strategic Partnership with Vietnam

Jakarta, The Gulf Observer: President Prabowo Subianto emphasized the need to strengthen the partnership between Indonesia and Vietnam during a meeting with the Secretary-General of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV), To Lam, on Monday at Merdeka Palace in Jakarta.

President Prabowo highlighted the importance of elevating bilateral relations, suggesting that the time is ripe to upgrade their partnership to a comprehensive strategic level. “This year should be considered an excellent momentum to elevate our relationship to a higher level—to the level of a comprehensive strategic partnership,” he said.

The President reflected on the historical ties between the two nations, noting that their shared experiences in defending independence and sovereignty against colonialism and imperialism form a strong foundation for further cooperation. He underscored that both Indonesia and Vietnam have a common vision of achieving developed nation status by 2045.

“We want to improve the lives of our people. We want to eliminate poverty,” President Prabowo added, emphasizing the mutual aspirations for the progress of their nations.

The Indonesian leader praised the resilience of the Vietnamese people and expressed Indonesia’s eagerness to strengthen the relationship. He also invited Vietnam to collaborate closely in achieving the shared goals of peace, stability, and prosperity for the benefit of both nations.

The meeting, which took place in Jakarta, served as a step toward enhancing Indonesia-Vietnam ties, which were originally established in 1955, with a focus on forging a deeper, more comprehensive partnership between the two countries.
