President Prabowo Calls for Renewed National Spirit on Indonesia’s 117th National Awakening Day

Jakarta, The Gulf Observer: President Prabowo Subianto marked Indonesia’s 117th National Awakening Day with a call to all citizens to revitalize the spirit of national unity through dedication, hard work, and meaningful contributions to the nation’s progress.
In a statement shared on the presidential Instagram account @presidenrepublikindonesia on Tuesday, President Prabowo emphasized the importance of honoring the legacy of Indonesia’s struggle for independence by embodying the spirit of awakening in everyday efforts toward national development.
“As the successor of the struggle, our duty today is to maintain the spirit of Awakening in our hard work, dedication to contribute to the country, and the will to stand on our own feet,” he stated.
Highlighting the need for self-reliance, the President stressed that the Indonesian nation must depend on its own strength to attain self-sufficiency in food and energy, achieve advancements in science and technology, and preserve unity and social justice.
“Awake, my Indonesia, for a more just, prosperous, and sovereign Indonesia,” he remarked.
National Awakening Day, observed annually on May 20, commemorates the founding of Boedi Oetomo in 1908, a pivotal organization in Indonesia’s early nationalist movement. The day symbolizes the rise of national consciousness that eventually led to the proclamation of independence on August 17, 1945.
This year’s commemoration carries the theme “Rise Together to Realize a Strong Indonesia,” underscoring the collective spirit of resilience and progress in the face of national and global challenges.
