President Prabowo Convenes Defense Meeting with TNI and Ministry Leaders at Merdeka Palace

Jakarta, The Gulf Observer: President Prabowo Subianto on Friday convened a meeting with senior leaders of the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI) and the Ministry of Defense at the Merdeka Palace to deliver strategic directives on national defense and security.

Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya confirmed on Saturday that he attended the meeting, which brought together top military and defense officials. He said that, in his capacity as commander-in-chief of the TNI, President Prabowo outlined a number of directives related to defense, security, and geostrategic planning.

Wijaya did not provide details of the geostrategic issues discussed, noting that the meeting was held behind closed doors.

Photographs released by the Presidential Secretariat, the Cabinet Secretariat, and the State Secretariat Ministry showed the discussions taking place around a round table, with President Prabowo seated at the center. Among those present were TNI Deputy Commander General Tandyo Budi Revita, Navy Chief of Staff Admiral Muhammad Ali, Air Force Chief of Staff Marshal Tonny Harjono, and Chief of the TNI General Staff Lt. Gen. Richard Taruli Horja Tampubolon.

Defense Minister Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin and State Secretariat Minister Prasetyo Hadi were seated on either side of the president.

In a statement, the Presidential Secretariat described the meeting as part of President Prabowo’s regular agenda in his role as commander-in-chief of the TNI. It said the session underscored the president’s commitment to safeguarding national sovereignty and stability through sustained and direct engagement with the military leadership.

The secretariat added that President Prabowo emphasized the importance of maintaining close synergy among the Army, Navy, and Air Force, while continuing efforts to modernize and strengthen Indonesia’s defense posture in order to protect national interests.
