President Prabowo Extends New Year Greetings to Soldiers in Papua
Jakarta, The Gulf Observer: President Prabowo Subianto marked the arrival of the New Year by addressing thousands of National Armed Forces (TNI) soldiers stationed in Papua via video call from Jakarta. Joining him in this interaction was Defense Minister Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin, who celebrated the New Year with the soldiers at a military camp in Mimika, Central Papua.
The head of the Defense Ministry’s Information Bureau, Brig. Gen. Frega Wenas Inkiriwang, highlighted the significance of the occasion, stating on Wednesday that the president’s message conveyed gratitude and encouragement to the soldiers safeguarding Indonesia’s sovereignty.
Encouraging Words from the President
Speaking through Sjamsoeddin’s phone, President Prabowo commended the soldiers for their unwavering dedication to the nation.
“I want you to be reliable soldiers beloved by the people. The TNI is the guardian of our unitary republic, safeguarding our independence,” Prabowo said. He extended his heartfelt appreciation, saying, “Good luck with your duties. God bless you all. Happy New Year to those on duty. Keep up your spirit and maintain your dedication to the state and the nation.”
Defense Minister’s Visit to Mimika
Defense Minister Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin, joined by high-ranking officers, including TNI Commander General Agus Subiyanto, participated in the New Year celebration at the military camp in Mimika. Sjamsoeddin urged the soldiers to remain vigilant and united.
“Remember, you are tasked with safeguarding the sovereignty of the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia from the outermost region,” he said. To support their well-being, Sjamsoeddin distributed packages containing nutritious beverages, vitamins, and medicines to the stationed personnel.

The event underscored the nation’s appreciation for its armed forces, who remain steadfast in their duties, even during holidays.
