President Prabowo Highlights Strong Confidence of U.S. Companies in Indonesia's Economic Growth

Jakarta, The Gulf Observer: Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto emphasized the growing confidence of U.S.-based companies in Indonesia’s economic prospects following a meeting with representatives from the United States-Indonesia Society (USINDO) in Washington D.C. on the second day of his official visit to the United States.

In a statement released by his secretariat, President Subianto noted that U.S. companies have placed their trust in Indonesia’s economy, signaling optimism about the country’s future growth. He also encouraged these companies to continue investing in Indonesia and actively participate in the nation’s ongoing development plans.

“I am very delighted with my meeting with U.S. and global mega corporations earlier. The U.S. has been highly involved in Indonesia’s economy and development. Its companies have been present in Indonesia for a long time,” President Subianto stated.

The meeting, held on Monday afternoon local time, saw the participation of 25 USINDO representatives from both the U.S. and Indonesia, including prominent figures such as Richard Adkerson, Chairman of Freeport McMoRan; Daniel Yergin, Vice Chairman of S&P Global; Peter Arduini, CEO of GE Healthcare; Robert Scher, VP of BP America; and Ziad Ojakli, Executive VP of Boeing.

USINDO, a non-governmental organization established to promote mutual understanding between the U.S. and Indonesia, played a key role in facilitating the dialogue. The meeting also featured USINDO President David Merrill and Treasurer Edward Wanandi.

Accompanying President Subianto during the event were Indonesian Investment and Downstreaming Minister Rosan Roeslani, Foreign Affairs Minister Retno Marsudi, Deputy Minister of Higher Education Stella Christie, Chargé d’Affaires of the Indonesian Embassy in Washington D.C. Ida Bimantara, and Cabinet Secretary Teddy Wijaya.

The productive discussions underscored the strong and enduring economic ties between the United States and Indonesia, with a focus on future collaboration and investment.
