President Prabowo Secures $8.5 Billion in UK Investment Commitments
London, The Gulf Observer: Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto successfully secured investment commitments worth $8.5 billion from British companies during the CEO Roundtable Forum held on Thursday (November 21) at Lancaster House in London. The forum brought together 19 leaders of top British firms and highlighted Indonesia’s appeal as an investment destination.
President Prabowo emphasized that the commitments reflect strong confidence in Indonesia’s economic potential, attributing this positive development to the government’s focus on clean and efficient governance. He also credited his recent international visits to Brazil, the United States, and China with enhancing Indonesia’s image among global investors.
Finance Minister Sri Mulyani Indrawati, who also attended the forum, noted British executives’ keen interest in key Indonesian sectors such as energy, infrastructure, education, and health. She highlighted their focus on Indonesia’s advancements in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) education, as well as healthcare initiatives.
“Many were positively surprised by the president’s clear commitment to fostering transparent and effective governance,” she remarked.
Investment and Downstreaming Minister Rosan Roeslani observed that Indonesia’s political stability and peaceful power transition have further bolstered investor trust. He assured that follow-up meetings with interested companies are being planned to solidify their commitments.
The forum was also attended by Foreign Affairs Minister Sugiono, Deputy Finance Minister Thomas Djiwandono, Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya, and Deputy Speaker of Commission I of the House of Representatives (DPR) Budi Djiwandono, underscoring Indonesia’s concerted effort to strengthen bilateral ties and economic partnerships with the United Kingdom.
