President Prabowo Subianto to Receive Brunei’s Highest State Decoration

Jakarta, The Gulf Observer: President of Indonesia Prabowo Subianto is set to receive Brunei Darussalam’s highest state decoration, The Most Esteemed Family Order of Laila Utama, from His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah during a state visit to the Sultanate on Wednesday.

According to Yusuf Permana, Deputy for Protocol, Press, and Media at the Presidential Secretariat, the prestigious award will be conferred in a formal ceremony at the Nurul Iman Palace in Bandar Seri Begawan.

“The state decoration of Brunei Darussalam is bestowed by the Brunei Sultan as their utmost respect to heads of state and global leaders deemed to have contributed to advancing bilateral relations with Brunei Darussalam,” Permana stated.

President Prabowo departed Jakarta from Halim Perdanakusuma Airfield at 7:00 a.m. Jakarta time and arrived in Bandar Seri Begawan at approximately 10:20 a.m. local time.

During the visit, President Prabowo and Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah will lead a bilateral meeting between the two countries’ government delegations. The discussions are expected to strengthen and expand cooperation in key sectors, as Indonesia and Brunei mark more than four decades of diplomatic relations.

Following the award ceremony, the President and the Sultan will attend a state banquet hosted in honor of the Indonesian delegation.

Among the senior officials accompanying the President are Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto, Coordinating Minister for Community Empowerment Muhaimin Iskandar, Foreign Minister Sugiono, Migrant Workers Protection Minister Abdul Kadir Karding, and Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya.

The state visit is scheduled to conclude on Wednesday evening.
