President Prabowo to Deliver Keynote Address at World Economic Forum in Davos

Jakarta, The Gulf Observer: Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto is set to deliver a keynote address at the World Economic Forum (WEF) Annual Meeting in Davos, Switzerland, on Thursday, January 22, 2026, marking his first major global economic engagement since taking office.
According to the WEF’s official agenda, President Prabowo’s special address is scheduled from 2:00 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. local time (CET). He will share the stage with World Economic Forum President and CEO Børge Brende during the session.
“At Davos, the head of state will deliver a keynote speech at the World Economic Forum, which is expected to be attended by 61 heads of state and government and more than 1,000 participants,” Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya said on Sunday.
Teddy added that President Prabowo will also hold strategic dialogues with chief executives of leading global companies on the sidelines of the forum.
Founded in 1971, the World Economic Forum is an annual global gathering in Davos that brings together political leaders, business executives, economists, academics and experts to discuss current economic challenges and future global risks. The forum is organized by a non-governmental organization and think tank based in Cologny, near Geneva.
Other leaders scheduled to deliver special addresses at this year’s forum include French President Emmanuel Macron, Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, Chinese Vice Premier He Lifeng, Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi, Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez, and United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres.
They will be joined by U.S. President Donald J. Trump, Argentine President Javier Milei, and German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, highlighting the forum’s role as a key platform for high-level global diplomacy and economic coordination.
Ahead of the Davos meeting, President Prabowo is making a stop in London, where he arrived after departing Jakarta from Halim Perdanakusuma Air Base on Sunday.
Teddy, who is accompanying the president, said Prabowo is scheduled to attend several high-level meetings in the British capital.
“In London, President Prabowo will meet British Prime Minister Keir Starmer to discuss agreements in a number of strategic areas, including economic and maritime cooperation,” Teddy said.
The Indonesian president is also scheduled to meet King Charles III, with discussions expected to cover environmental protection, nature conservation, and elephant conservation, alongside global philanthropic figures.
President Prabowo’s departure for London was attended by several senior officials, including Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka, senior cabinet ministers, the armed forces chief, the national police chief, and the chief executive officer of Garuda Indonesia.
