Surkhandarya, The Gulf Observer: President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev visited the Surkhandarya region on February 26, beginning his trip, in keeping with tradition, with a visit to the mausoleum of the renowned scholar Hakim Termizi.

During the visit, verses from the Holy Quran were recited and prayers were offered for peace, stability, and prosperity for the people and the nation.

In discussions with scholars, President Mirziyoyev emphasized the importance of conducting in-depth study of the rich spiritual and educational heritage of Hakim Termizi, a distinguished thinker who made a significant contribution to the development of Islamic scholarship. The need to widely promote his legacy among both the Uzbek people and the international community was also highlighted.

The conversation further underscored the importance of preserving and advancing the noble values of Islam—such as kindness, humanity, and compassion—alongside national traditions. It was noted that these principles should serve as a foundation for educating the younger generation in the spirit of high moral ideals and strengthening their sense of love and devotion to the Motherland.

In recent years, the sacred site has undergone extensive renovation, transforming it into a more prosperous and well-maintained complex equipped with comprehensive facilities for pilgrims. The surrounding area has been landscaped, and large-scale restoration works have been carried out at the mausoleum. Modern lighting, heating, and cooling systems have been installed to enhance comfort for visitors.

To create a favorable microclimate within the complex, more than 4,000 perennial ornamental trees representing 40 species, as well as over 20,000 seasonal flowers, have been planted.

During the visit, relevant instructions were given to ensure the continued preservation and proper maintenance of the complex dedicated to the eminent scholar, who authored numerous works in fields such as tafsir, hadith, jurisprudence, kalam, Islamic philosophy, the history of Sufism, and mystical thought. Directions were also provided to further expand amenities and services for pilgrims visiting the site.
