President Tokayev Attends Concert Honoring Late Poet Shomishbay Sariyev
Astana, The Gulf Observer: President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev attended a commemorative concert celebrating the creative legacy of Shomishbay Sariyev, an eminent Kazakh poet and awardee of the prestigious Franz Kafka International Gold Medal. The event highlighted Sariyev’s profound contributions to Kazakh culture and spirituality, according to media reports.
Renowned Kazakh artists performed a selection of Sariyev’s most beloved songs on stage, accompanied by a variety and symphony orchestra. Among the celebrated works performed were Ainaldym Senen, Atameken-ai, Salem Sagan, Tugan El, Dombyra Turaly Ballada, Okinbe Sen, Omir-Ozen, Sagyndym Sagym Zhyldar, Dos Kerek, and Saryarka.
Shomishbay Sariyev, widely regarded as a towering figure in Kazakh literature, was a songwriter, writer, and scholar. A merited figure of Kazakh culture, he was honored with the Barys and Parassat Orders for his significant contributions to the nation’s cultural heritage.
Sariyev passed away at the age of 75, leaving a rich legacy that continues to inspire and resonate within the national cultural treasury. The concert served as a heartfelt tribute to his enduring influence on Kazakh art and literature.
