President Tokayev Attends Gala Concert in Honor of Republic Day

Astana, The Gulf Observer: Kazakhstan’s President, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, attended the gala concert Kasterli Otan – Kazakhstan held at the Astana Opera Theater of Opera and Ballet, in celebration of the upcoming Republic Day, which the country observes on October 25. The concert featured performances by renowned Kazakhstani artists and creative ensembles, offering a cultural tribute to this significant national occasion.

Republic Day commemorates the adoption of the Declaration on State Sovereignty of the Kazakh SSR within the Soviet Union, on October 25, 1990, a pivotal moment that laid the foundation for the nation’s independence. Kazakhstan officially declared independence on December 16, 1991. The initiative to reinstate Republic Day as a public holiday came in 2022, highlighting its importance as a symbol of Kazakhstan’s journey toward sovereignty.

Earlier, President Tokayev issued several directives aimed at the development and improvement of the capital, Astana, reinforcing the government’s focus on enhancing the city’s infrastructure and cultural life. The gala concert was part of a series of events commemorating this significant milestone in the nation’s history.
