President Tokayev Attends Opening Ceremony of 23rd Boao Forum for Asia Plenary Session
Hainan, The Gulf Observer: President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev of Kazakhstan participated in the opening ceremony of the 23rd edition of the Boao Forum for Asia’s plenary session, an annual event held in south China’s Hainan province. The theme for this year’s forum, according to Akorda press service, is “Asia and the World: Common Challenges, Shared Responsibilities.”
President Tokayev addressed the gathering as an esteemed guest, acknowledging the vital role of the forum as a center for dialogue and international cooperation, particularly amidst the unprecedented global uncertainty characterized by geopolitical turbulence and economic challenges.
Highlighting the current global economic landscape, President Tokayev emphasized the slowdown in global GDP growth, attributing it to escalating trade tensions and protectionist measures among leading nations. He underscored the disruptive effects of such disputes on global supply chains, economic growth, and investor confidence, stressing the urgent need for new development paradigms to unlock opportunities in the coming decade.
In this context, President Tokayev hailed Asia as a driving force for sustainable development, citing projections that the continent will account for 60% of global GDP growth this year. He lauded Asia’s prominence in global trade, technological innovation, and human capital, noting its potential to spearhead a “Asian Renaissance” in the global economy.
