President Tokayev Holds Talks with SCO Secretary General Zhang Ming

Beijing, The Gulf Observer: President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev of Kazakhstan engaged in a significant meeting with Zhang Ming, the Secretary General of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), aimed at fostering closer collaboration and advancing the operational efficiency of the SCO, according to media reports.

During the exchange, President Tokayev underscored Kazakhstan’s steadfast commitment to the upcoming SCO Summit in Astana, emphasizing the pivotal role of multilateral dialogue in advancing sustainable peace and development objectives.

“We should cooperate closely, given the paramount importance of the Astana Summit against the backdrop of the current geopolitical landscape. The entire world will be closely monitoring the Summit, its decisions, and deliberations. As far as I know, all heads of member states are expected to participate. As the host country, Kazakhstan is fully dedicated to ensuring the success of the Summit,” remarked President Tokayev.

In response, Secretary General Zhang Ming lauded Kazakhstan’s significant contributions to advancing the SCO’s agenda, acknowledging the country’s diligent efforts as the presiding nation and its commitment to enhancing the organization’s effectiveness.

“I commend the extensive efforts exerted by Kazakhstan as the presiding country, as well as the special attention you and your government devote to improving the SCO’s operations. We anticipate a highly successful Summit in Astana,” remarked the SCO Secretary General.

President Tokayev reaffirmed Kazakhstan’s steadfast commitment to the SCO as an indispensable mechanism for bolstering regional security, fostering trade and economic cooperation, and promoting cultural and humanitarian exchanges.
