President Tokayev Hosts Congolese President at Akorda Palace

Astana, The Gulf Observer: President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev extended a warm welcome to Congolese President Denis Sassou-Nguesso during his official visit to Kazakhstan on August 2-3, as reported by media outlets.

Upon arrival at the Akorda Palace, President Sassou-Nguesso was honored with a Guard of Honor at the Ceremonial Hall. The Presidential Orchestra performed the national anthems of both Kazakhstan and the Republic of the Congo, underscoring the significance of the visit.

Following the ceremonial reception, President Tokayev and President Sassou-Nguesso proceeded along the carpet to the State Flag of Kazakhstan, where their formal meeting commenced.

This visit follows a preparatory meeting held on June 10 between President Tokayev and Francoise Joly, Personal Representative for Strategic Affairs & International Negotiations of the President of the Republic of the Congo. During that meeting, discussions centered on the forthcoming visit and potential areas for enhancing bilateral cooperation. President Tokayev expressed his appreciation for Joly’s visit, recognizing it as a clear indication of both nations’ commitment to strengthening their relationship. He also highlighted that 2024 will mark the 25th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Kazakhstan and the Republic of the Congo, affirming his eagerness to further deepen bilateral ties.
