President Tokayev Meets SCO Secretary-General

Astana, The Gulf Observer: President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev received the Secretary-General of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), Nurlan Yermekbayev, to discuss prospects for enhancing cooperation within the framework of the SCO, according to the Akorda press service.
During the meeting, President Tokayev reaffirmed Kazakhstan’s strong commitment to reinforcing the role of the SCO as an effective and well-balanced international organization capable of addressing contemporary global challenges.
The Head of State praised China’s chairmanship of the organization, highlighting its constructive leadership, and expressed Kazakhstan’s full support for further strengthening the institutional mechanisms of the SCO.
The two sides also exchanged views on the advancement of key priorities put forward by Kazakhstan during its engagement within the SCO framework, particularly in areas related to regional security, economic integration, and multilateral dialogue.
The meeting underscored Kazakhstan’s proactive stance in shaping the SCO’s agenda and promoting meaningful cooperation among member states.
It is noteworthy that President Tokayev had earlier addressed an extended meeting of the board of Kazakhstan’s law enforcement agencies on June 23, emphasizing the need for enhanced regional and international collaboration in ensuring national and collective security.
