President Tokayev Meets with Qatari Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani
Astana, The Gulf Observer: President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev of Kazakhstan expressed his heartfelt thanks to Amir of the State of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, for his personal participation in the upcoming Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit set to take place in the Kazakh capital, and for Qatar’s steadfast support of Kazakhstan’s global initiatives, according to a report from Akorda.
President Tokayev described Qatar as one of Kazakhstan’s closest partners, sharing common goals and aspirations.
“I’d like to highlight our commitment to close relations with your country. I have fond memories of my visit to Doha, which was a significant event that provided a serious impetus to the promotion of bilateral cooperation. We elevated our relations to the strategic partnership level, and during my visit, key documents were signed. I believe that the Kazakh government will do everything possible for the successful implementation of the agreements,” said President Tokayev.
In response, Qatari Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani expressed his honor at visiting Astana again and attending the SCO summit.
“I still remember your important visit to Doha. You mentioned that we elevated our relations to the strategic level, and that is something I am proud of. Our countries have much work ahead, including enhancing economic and investment ties,” remarked the Qatari Amir.
The discussions centered on prospects for strengthening bilateral ties in various sectors, including trade and economic cooperation, cultural and humanitarian exchanges, transport and logistics, agriculture, energy, education, health, and telecommunications. Special attention was given to current regional and international issues.
Both leaders reaffirmed their commitment to deepening cooperation and addressing shared challenges, emphasizing the importance of their strategic partnership in achieving mutual goals and advancing global initiatives.
