President Tokayev Receives Georgian Interior Minister to Boost Law Enforcement Cooperation

Astana, The Gulf Observer: President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev has received Gela Geladze, Minister of Internal Affairs of Georgia, the Akorda press service reported.

During the meeting, the two sides discussed topical issues of bilateral cooperation in ensuring law and order and combating crime. President Tokayev emphasized that Georgia remains an important and reliable partner of Kazakhstan in the South Caucasus region. He highlighted that the relations between the two nations, rooted in deep historical ties, have successfully withstood the test of time.

Minister Geladze briefed the Kazakh President on the ongoing efforts of Georgian law-enforcement agencies to guarantee the safety and security of foreign tourists, including citizens of Kazakhstan visiting Georgia.

Both sides expressed readiness to strengthen cooperation between their respective interior ministries, particularly in combating organized crime, drug trafficking, cybercrime, and extremism. The parties also agreed to enhance the exchange of best practices and expand collaboration in personnel training.

At the conclusion of the meeting, President Tokayev conveyed his warm greetings to Mikheil Kavelashvili, President of Georgia, and Irakli Kobakhidze, Prime Minister of Georgia, reaffirming Kazakhstan’s commitment to further deepening bilateral partnership.
