President Trump Receives Architect of Peace Award from Nixon Foundation

Baku, The Gulf Observer: Former U.S. President Donald Trump has been awarded the Architect of Peace Award by the Richard Nixon Foundation during a ceremony held at the White House on Tuesday, according to sources familiar with the matter.
The award was presented by Tricia Nixon Cox, daughter of former President Richard Nixon, alongside former National Security Adviser Robert O’Brien and Jim Byron, the acting archivist of the United States.
Established in 1995, the Architect of Peace Award honors individuals who embody President Nixon’s “lifelong goal of shaping a more peaceful world,” according to the Foundation’s official website.
Mr. Trump received the award in recognition of his role in mediating the recent ceasefire between Israel and Hamas, a deal that was announced two days prior to the announcement of the 2025 Nobel Peace Prize. The former president has repeatedly stated that his administration’s and post-presidency efforts have contributed to resolving global conflicts and advancing peace.
Following the Nobel Committee’s decision to award this year’s Peace Prize to Venezuelan opposition leader María Corina Machado, White House Communications Director Steven Cheung criticized the selection, saying the committee had “chosen politics over peace.”
Mr. Trump, in remarks following the ceremony, said he had personally called Machado to congratulate her on the honor. According to him, Machado responded, “I’m accepting this in honor of you, because you really deserved it.”
The Nixon Foundation’s recognition adds to Mr. Trump’s growing list of international acknowledgments linked to his mediation efforts, which he has frequently cited as evidence of his commitment to promoting peace and stability worldwide.
