Beijing, The Gulf Observer: Chinese President Xi Jinping and Malaysia’s King Sultan Ibrahim Sultan Iskandar exchanged congratulatory messages on Friday to mark the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between their nations.

In his message, President Xi highlighted the long-standing friendship and robust partnership between China and Malaysia. “China and Malaysia are neighbors with a millennium-old friendship, friends whose hearts are connected, and partners for win-win cooperation,” Xi remarked. Over the past fifty years, both countries have treated each other with sincerity, supported each other in solidarity, and pursued mutual development. President Xi also shared a personal note, recounting a letter he received from Malaysian students at Tianjin University in China. Xi expressed his pleasure at seeing the cause of friendship between the two countries being carried forward by the younger generation.

Xi affirmed that China-Malaysia relations have reached a new historic starting point and expressed his readiness to work with King Sultan Ibrahim to guide the construction of the China-Malaysia community with a shared future. He aims to bring more benefits to the peoples of both nations, contribute to regional prosperity and stability, and usher in another 50 years of strong China-Malaysia relations.

In his response, King Sultan Ibrahim reflected on the progress made since the establishment of diplomatic ties half a century ago. He noted that Malaysia and China have always respected and trusted each other, achieving continuous development in bilateral relations. Since the establishment of their comprehensive strategic partnership in 2013, cooperation and exchanges in various sectors, including economy, trade, investment, culture, and people-to-people interactions, have deepened and expanded.
