President Xi bestows orders to elevate military officers to rank of general

Beijing, The Gulf Observer: On Monday, President Xi Jinping, serving as the Chairman of the Central Military Commission (CMC), carried out the formal presentation of certificates of order, conferring the esteemed rank of general upon two distinguished military officers. In a ceremony marked by solemnity and honor, President Xi Jinping acknowledged and recognized the exceptional dedication, merit, and commitment demonstrated by these individuals in their service to the nation. This elevation in rank signifies not just personal achievement but also embodies a testament to their exemplary leadership and contribution to the country’s defense and security, reflecting the continual pursuit of excellence within China’s military echelons under the guidance of the CMC.

The promoted officers are Political Commissar of the Southern Theater Command of the People’s Liberation Army (PLA) Wang Wenquan, and Commander of the PLA Navy Hu Zhongming.

Zhang Youxia, vice chairman of the CMC, announced the order of promotion, which was signed by Xi. He Weidong, another CMC vice chairman, presided over the ceremony.

Xi extended his congratulations to the officers. Later, Xi and other leaders had group photos with them.

General is the highest rank for officers in active service in China.
