President Xi Jinping Arrives in Budapest, Emphasizes Strong Ties with Hungary
Budapest, The Gulf Observer: Chinese President Xi Jinping arrived in Budapest on Wednesday for a state visit to Hungary, marking the final leg of his Europe tour. Upon his arrival, President Xi underscored the robust friendship and partnership between China and Hungary, citing their exemplary collaboration as a model for a new type of international relations founded on mutual respect, fairness, justice, and win-win cooperation.
Welcoming President Xi at the airport were Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban and his wife, as President Xi delivered a written speech expressing his delight at the opportunity to visit Hungary at the invitation of Hungarian President Tamas Sulyok and Prime Minister Orban.
“On behalf of the government and the people of China, I wish to extend heartfelt greetings and best wishes to the Hungarian government and people,” stated President Xi, acknowledging the socioeconomic advancements achieved by Hungary in recent years.
President Xi highlighted Hungary’s significance as one of the earliest countries to recognize and establish diplomatic relations with the People’s Republic of China, culminating in the establishment of a friendly and cooperative partnership in 2004. He noted that the bilateral relationship was elevated to a comprehensive strategic partnership in 2017, leading to intensified cooperation and bolstered popular support for the enduring friendship between China and Hungary.
In his address, President Xi commended the frequent high-level exchanges, deepening mutual trust, fruitful outcomes in Belt and Road cooperation, vibrant people-to-people and cultural exchanges, and close collaboration in international and regional affairs between China and Hungary in recent years.
The Chinese president emphasized the significance of the 75th anniversary of diplomatic ties between China and Hungary, heralding it as a pivotal opportunity for further enhancing bilateral relations. He expressed anticipation for meetings with President Tamas Sulyok, Prime Minister Viktor Orban, and other Hungarian leaders, with a call for jointly charting a new blueprint for cooperation and development to elevate the China-Hungary relationship to unprecedented heights.
President Xi reaffirmed China and Hungary’s commitment to approaching their bilateral relationship with a broad perspective and a long-term view, irrespective of evolving international dynamics.
