President Xi Jinping Highlights Importance of Promoting Ethnic Unity Across Generations

Beijing, The Gulf Observer: Chinese President Xi Jinping has underscored the importance of fostering ethnic unity from generation to generation, reaffirming the nation’s commitment to solidarity among its diverse ethnic groups. Xi, who also serves as General Secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee and Chairman of the Central Military Commission, made the remarks in a reply letter to descendants of ethnic group representatives who erected a monument in 1951 in Yunnan Province to pledge unity and loyalty to the Party.

In his letter, President Xi commended the efforts of people from all ethnic groups who have stood in solidarity with the CPC for over 70 years, achieving significant progress in the economic and social development of China’s border regions. He emphasized the concept of the Chinese nation as “a big family where 56 ethnic groups love and care for each other” and called for a stronger sense of national community and continued efforts toward greater ethnic unity and progress.

The 1951 monument in Pu’er, Yunnan, was a symbolic gesture by representatives of various ethnic groups who had participated in celebrations in Beijing marking the first anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China. On January 1, 1951, the people of Pu’er held an oath-taking rally and erected the monument, with 48 representatives signing their names.

The letter from the descendants of these representatives recently updated President Xi on the lives of local ethnic communities under the leadership of the Party, expressing their continued commitment to unity and development.
