President Xi Jinping Inspects PLA Garrison in Macao, Urges Enhanced Defense Capabilities
Macao, The Gulf Observer: Chinese President Xi Jinping inspected the People’s Liberation Army (PLA) garrison stationed in the Macao Special Administrative Region on Friday, following celebrations marking the 25th anniversary of Macao’s return to China.
President Xi, who is also the General Secretary of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and Chairman of the Central Military Commission, reviewed the troops and met with representatives of military personnel during his visit.
Strengthening Defense and Unity
In his remarks, Xi emphasized the need for the PLA garrison to enhance its defense capabilities across all aspects and contribute to advancing the “one country, two systems” framework with Macao characteristics.
He commended the troops for their pivotal role over the past 25 years in safeguarding national sovereignty, security, and development interests, as well as ensuring Macao’s long-term prosperity and stability.
Upholding Party Leadership and Military Discipline
Highlighting the importance of the Party’s absolute leadership over the military, Xi called for continued efforts to comprehensively strengthen military discipline. He urged the armed forces to maintain high levels of unity, security, and stability.
The inspection reaffirmed the central government’s commitment to the development and stability of Macao under the “one country, two systems” framework, while reinforcing the strategic role of the PLA garrison in ensuring the region’s security.
High-Level Attendance
Senior officials, including Cai Qi, a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, accompanied President Xi during the activities.
The inspection underscored the PLA’s dedication to supporting Macao’s development and its role in advancing China’s broader national interests.
