Dushanbe, The Gulf Observer: Chinese President Xi Jinping has vowed to elevate the all-round cooperation between China and Tajikistan to a higher level. Upon his arrival in the Tajik capital, Xi expressed his enthusiasm for holding talks with President Emomali Rahmon during his visit.

In a written statement, Xi highlighted the importance of making new plans and arrangements for the development of China-Tajikistan relations in light of current circumstances. He emphasized the value of an in-depth exchange of views on the international and regional situation with Rahmon, predicting that the visit will be a resounding success due to the joint efforts of both sides.

Reflecting on his previous visits to Tajikistan in 2014 and 2019, Xi shared his warm feelings about returning to the beautiful country after five years. On behalf of the Chinese government and people, he extended sincere greetings and best wishes to the government and people of Tajikistan.

Xi underscored the strength of the China-Tajikistan relationship, describing the two countries as good neighbors, friends, partners, and brothers. Since the establishment of diplomatic ties 32 years ago, the relationship has evolved from a good-neighborly friendship to a strategic partnership, and now to a comprehensive strategic partnership, setting a model for neighboring countries.

He pointed out that China has become Tajikistan’s second-largest trading partner, with Belt and Road cooperation yielding significant results and two-way trade reaching new heights.

A grand welcome ceremony, hosted by Rahmon, greeted Xi at the airport. Tajik children presented flowers to Xi, and over 1,500 young Tajiks in national costumes performed Chinese and Tajik songs and dances, waving the flags of China and Tajikistan to warmly welcome the esteemed guest from China.

Xi arrived in Dushanbe after attending the 24th Meeting of the Council of Heads of State of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization in Astana and a state visit to Kazakhstan. His plane was escorted by three Kazakh Air Force jets after departing Kazakhstan.
