Presidents of Turkmenistan, Tajikistan meet in Dushanbe
Dushanbe, The Gulf Observer: President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov and Tajik President Emomali Rahmon held a meeting in Dushanbe on Wednesday, during which the sides discussed interstate relations between the two countries.
President Berdimuhamedov was welcomed by Emomali Rahmon at the official ceremony of the meeting in front of the Palace of the Nation, National News Agency Khovar reported.
According to the report, Tajik-Turkmen negotiations were held at the highest level in a narrow format and with the participation of official delegations of the parties.
During the meeting, the Heads of states exchanged views on topical issues of international and regional agenda.
The sides discussed trade and economic cooperation and reached agreements on taking necessary measures to further develop this aspect of mutual relations.
In this context, the parties focused on industrial cooperation, energy, and agricultural sectors, transport, and communications.
The representatives of Tajikistan and Turkmenistan discussed the possibility of collaboration in the spheres of light industry, construction materials, metallurgy, and the mutual supply of raw materials. They also discussed the utilization of Turkmenistan’s transit capacity for cargo traffic.
Furthermore, the two sides discussed the potential for further expansion in the fields of culture, education, science, sports, and tourism, as well as a variety of pressing regional and international issues. High-level meetings and negotiations between the two countries saw fruitful conversations concerning other matters of interest.
