Presidents of Uzbekistan and Iran Discuss Strengthening Bilateral Ties during Telephone Conversation

Tashkent/Tehran, The Gulf Observer: The President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, and the President of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Masoud Pezeshkian, held a telephone conversation on April 1, during which they warmly exchanged congratulations on the occasion of Navruz and Eid al-Fitr. Both leaders extended heartfelt wishes for peace, well-being, and prosperity to the friendly peoples of their respective nations.

The discussion focused on enhancing multifaceted cooperation between Uzbekistan and Iran in accordance with the adopted roadmap for bilateral relations. Both sides expressed satisfaction with the growing engagements at various levels, including active diplomatic contacts and official visits.

Key areas of economic collaboration were highlighted, including the increase in trade and freight volumes, the rise in joint ventures, and the expansion of direct flights between the capitals. Furthermore, business, cultural, and humanitarian exchanges continue to flourish between the two countries.

Special emphasis was placed on accelerating cooperation projects in several strategic industries, including:

  • Chemical and petrochemical sectors
  • Textile and food industries
  • Agriculture
  • Construction materials industry

Both leaders also underscored the importance of successfully organizing the upcoming Intergovernmental Commission meeting, Business Forum, and Industrial Exhibition in Tehran.
