Putin Affirms Russia’s Readiness to Support Indonesia’s Industrial Development

Moscow, The Gulf Observer: Russian President Vladimir Putin has assured Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto of Moscow’s full readiness to support Indonesia’s efforts to strengthen and enhance the competitiveness of its industrial sector.
During a bilateral meeting at the Grand Kremlin Palace in Moscow on Wednesday (December 10), President Putin expressed Russia’s willingness to participate in strategically significant joint cooperation projects with Indonesia.
“If Indonesia decided to involve Russia, we always stand ready to offer our help,” Putin said in remarks broadcast via a livestream by the Indonesian Presidential Secretariat’s YouTube channel and monitored from Jakarta.
Putin noted that Russia has a wide range of projects with strong potential for collaboration, particularly in the areas of industrial development, manufacturing, and agriculture. He also highlighted the continued strengthening of bilateral trade, with combined export and import values increasing 17 percent in the first nine months of 2025.
The Russian president voiced confidence that both countries would continue to resolve existing trade challenges, enabling their economic partnership to reach new levels. “We are ready to explore new avenues (for cooperation),” he stated.
Putin further pointed to the positive momentum in tourism cooperation between Indonesia and Russia, characterized by rising visitor numbers. He attributed the growth in travel to the availability of direct flights and visa-free arrangements that have facilitated people-to-people exchanges.
Reflecting on the broad-based progress in bilateral relations, Putin said he was optimistic about the vast potential for Indonesia and Russia to further deepen their strategic partnership.
President Prabowo arrived in Moscow at 10:50 a.m. local time on Wednesday as part of a wider diplomatic tour, following engagements with Pakistani President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif in Islamabad on December 8–9.
At the Kremlin, President Prabowo was accompanied by Foreign Affairs Minister Sugiono and Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya. The two leaders last held talks during the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum on June 18–20.
