Redefining Pakistan’s Tourism Economy through Chinese Tourists: Consul General

Beijing: Pakistan has always been an attractive destination for tourists due to its rich culture, beautiful landscapes, and friendly people. In recent years, the government of Pakistan has been working by focusing on attracting Chinese tourists to the country, said acting Consul General of the Consulate of Guangzhou Sardar Muhammad.
Addressing a seminar titled “Overseas Chinese Friends Visiting China”, with a primary focus on promoting communication and exchanges between China and overseas people, Sardar Muhammad said that China is the world’s largest outbound tourist market, with millions of Chinese tourists traveling to different countries every year while Pakistan, with its unique culture and natural beauty, has the potential to attract a significant number of Chinese tourists.
“We all are witness to and acknowledge the miraculous transformation of China which took place under the guiding light of the Communist Party of China over the last century. Wisdom, according to Confucius, tells us that in order to define and determine the future, we have to study the past. For understanding the past and present of China, one has to visit the shining, prospering, beautiful country and see first-hand its history, development, and culture and learn from it”, he added.

He further said that Pakistan-China friendship and cooperation encompasses all fields – political, diplomatic, economic, commercial, cultural, and technical, added that Pakistan also believes in the extensive use of public diplomacy, continued promotion of people-to-people contacts, and cultural exchanges with other civilizations, for understanding each other and for benefiting from each other’s strengths.
“With this objective in view, the two countries have declared the year 2023 as the year of China-Pakistan Tourism Exchanges. Last year we also co-hosted the Pakistani culture and food festival with Silk Road International Art Exchange Centre in Lang Fang to showcase Pakistani culture. This year we have inaugurated the three-month-long Gandhara Art Exhibition at the Palace Museum in Beijing”, Sardar mentioned.
He stated that recently they have also inaugurated Pakistan Tourism Website “Discover Batie” in Chinese language and we welcome our Chinese friends to visit Pakistan and see for themselves the beautiful country and meet their welcoming friends. It is our aim to further promote cultural exchanges, and enhance people-to-people contacts between the people of our two countries which would further cement our exemplary brotherly relations.
Sardar said that promoting communication and exchanges between China and the world enhances friendship with neighboring countries, and showcases China’s recent development and prosperity.
