Riyadh Region Records Strong Tourism Growth During Winter Season

Riyadh

Riyadh, The Gulf Observer: The Riyadh region has recorded a strong tourism performance during the current winter season, receiving more than 15.1 million tourists from within the Kingdom and abroad by the end of the third quarter, highlighting the capital’s growing appeal as a major hub for business, entertainment, and leisure.

According to data released by the Ministry of Tourism, total tourist spending in the region reached approximately SR33 billion during the same period, reflecting the direct economic impact of the continued expansion of the tourism sector and its contribution to local economic growth.

The ministry’s figures showed an 18 percent increase in total tourist spending compared to the previous period. This growth was attributed to the diversification of events and tourism activities, alongside sustained development in infrastructure, hospitality services, and the entertainment sector.

The strong performance is in line with national objectives to promote urban tourism, as seasonal events and entertainment experiences continue to play a key role in strengthening Riyadh’s position as a global tourism destination. The growth also supports the local economy by stimulating activity across a wide range of tourism-related sectors, reinforcing the capital’s role as a central pillar of the Kingdom’s tourism strategy.
