Romanian Ambassador Meets NUST Rector to Strengthen Academic and Technological Ties

Islamabad, The Gulf Observer: Today, H.E. Dan Stoenescu, Ambassador of Romania to Pakistan, met with Dr. Muhammad Zahid Latif, Rector of the National University of Sciences and Technology (NUST), one of Pakistan’s premier higher education institutions.
During the meeting, both sides engaged in a productive discussion on enhancing academic, cultural, and technological cooperation between Romania and Pakistan.
Key areas of discussion included:
- Education: Student and faculty exchanges, joint research initiatives, and inter-university agreements. The possibility of signing a Memorandum of Understanding between NUST and the University Politehnica of Bucharest, one of Romania’s leading technical universities, in the near future was also highlighted.
- Cultural Diplomacy: Opportunities for Romanian cultural events at NUST and the potential establishment of a future Romanian Chair.
- Technology & Workforce Development: Exploring avenues for Pakistan’s skilled graduates to contribute to Romania’s high-tech sectors, including artificial intelligence, aerospace, data science, and biotechnology.
Ambassador Stoenescu expressed his admiration for NUST’s achievements, noting its 22 PhD-awarding schools, over 20,000 students, and a strong international academic network, which establish it as one of Pakistan’s leading universities.
The Ambassador expressed confidence that the dialogue would pave the way for meaningful collaborations between Romanian and Pakistani universities, fostering joint initiatives for students, faculty, and researchers.
