Romanian Foreign Minister Holds Talks with U.S. Energy Secretary on Strategic Energy Projects

Bucharest, The Gulf Observer: Romanian Minister of Foreign Affairs Oana Țoiu held a high-level meeting on Tuesday with U.S. Secretary of Energy Chris Wright, accompanied by Romania’s Minister of Energy Bogdan-Gruia Ivan. The talks focused on accelerating joint energy projects aimed at strengthening Romania’s role as a key pillar of regional energy security.
Minister Țoiu emphasized that the strategic partnership between Romania and the United States is delivering tangible results for the security and prosperity of citizens. “First of all, safe energy at competitive prices,” she said, pointing to the reconditioning of Unit 1 and the construction of Units 3 and 4 at the Cernavodă nuclear power plant, along with natural gas development from the Black Sea, as essential steps to achieving energy independence from Russia and ensuring predictability for Romanian businesses.
The discussions also addressed the protection of critical infrastructure and the role of NATO bases in guaranteeing regional stability. Both sides underscored the importance of investments in job creation and training a new generation of energy experts, building on Romania’s longstanding tradition and international recognition in the field.
“The economy needs energy to grow, and we are making sure Romania has the necessary resources to develop,” Minister Țoiu affirmed, noting that dialogue with U.S. partners will continue in the coming weeks in Washington to advance these vital projects.
