Romania’s Foreign Minister Oana Augustoiu Holds Strategic Meeting with Secretary of State Raed Arafat on Emergency Cooperation

Bucharest, The Gulf Observer: On August 1, 2025 The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Romania, Oana Augustoiu, held a working meeting on Friday with Raed Arafat, Secretary of State in the Ministry of Internal Affairs. The discussions focused on the robust and long-standing cooperation between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MAE) and the Department for Emergency Situations (DSU).
Both officials emphasized the importance of ongoing collaboration in providing emergency consular support to Romanian citizens and delivering international humanitarian aid. Romania plays a crucial role in emergency preparedness at the European level by hosting strategic facilities and offering both civilian and military capabilities to support its European and regional partners.
Through the European Union’s Civil Protection Mechanism, Romania has received financial support and has successfully conducted humanitarian flights, including those for pediatric patients from Gaza. Romanian firefighters have also been deployed in recent years to countries such as France, Albania, Greece, Spain, North Macedonia, and Türkiye—demonstrating Romania’s strong commitment to international solidarity.
Minister Augustoiu and Secretary Arafat reaffirmed their determination to enhance this strategic cooperation further. Their shared goal remains to serve Romanian citizens and communities effectively, extend support to allies, and stand by those in need during critical times.
