Russian FM Lavrov Arrives in Astana for SCO Ministerial Meeting

Astana, The Gulf Observer: Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov has arrived in Astana to participate in the ministerial meeting of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) on May 20 and 21, as reported by media.

The meeting of SCO foreign ministers will focus on preparations for the upcoming summit on July 3 and 4, as well as on various international issues of current importance. A significant portion of the discussions will center on the future development of the SCO and its adaptation to the emerging global order.

During his visit, Minister Lavrov will also engage in several bilateral meetings with his counterparts. The foreign ministers aim to finalize a package of documents that will be signed by the heads of state at the summit.

The forthcoming summit on July 3-4 is anticipated to approve the admission of Belarus as a full-fledged member of the SCO.
