Saudi Arabia Condemns Israeli Minister's Remarks on Al-Aqsa Mosque

Riyadh, The Gulf Observer: Saudi Arabia has strongly condemned recent remarks made by Israeli Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir, who has called for the construction of a synagogue at the Al-Aqsa Mosque in Jerusalem. The Kingdom’s Foreign Ministry issued a statement early Tuesday denouncing the comments as extremist and provocative.

Ben-Gvir, a hard-line Israeli official, had reiterated his call for allowing Jewish prayers at the Al-Aqsa Mosque. During an interview, he responded affirmatively to a question about the possibility of building a synagogue on the site, saying, “Yes, Yes.” His statements have been criticized for exacerbating tensions amid ongoing ceasefire negotiations aimed at ending the conflict in Gaza.

Saudi Arabia’s Foreign Ministry rejected these inflammatory remarks and stressed the need to respect the historical and legal status of Al-Aqsa Mosque. The Kingdom called for the international community to take decisive action to address the Palestinian humanitarian crisis and to enforce accountability for violations of international laws and resolutions by Israeli officials.

The statement reaffirmed Saudi Arabia’s commitment to opposing provocations against Muslims worldwide and urged global leaders to uphold their responsibilities in resolving the ongoing conflict and supporting peace efforts.
