Saudi Arabia Elected to IAEA Board of Governors for Term Until 2027

Vienna, The Gulf Observer: The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) General Conference has elected Saudi Arabia as a member of its Board of Governors for the term running until 2027, during the agency’s 69th session held in Vienna.
The 35-member Board of Governors is among the IAEA’s most influential decision-making bodies, addressing key issues such as safeguards, verification of the peaceful use of nuclear activities under the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty, as well as reviewing the agency’s financial statements, programs, and budget before submitting recommendations to the General Conference.
Saudi Arabia’s election reflects international confidence in the Kingdom’s constructive role and its sustained efforts to enhance global cooperation in utilizing nuclear energy for peaceful development.
The Kingdom previously served on the IAEA Board of Governors from 2022 to 2024.
