Saudi Arabia launches iftar programs in Bosnia, Jordan
Riyadh, The Gulf Observer: Saudi Arabia has launched programs to distribute dates and iftar for those fasting during Ramadan in Bosnia and Herzegovina, the Saudi Press Agency reported on Friday.
The initiative was launched by the Ministry of Islamic Affairs, Dawah and Guidance at the Saudi Embassy in Sarajevo.
The inauguration was held at the King Fahd Cultural Center in the presence of the Grand Mufti of Bosnia and Herzegovina Dr. Husein Kavazovic, Saudi Ambassador Osama bin Dakhil Al-Ahmadi and Amer Al-Onzi, religious attache at the Saudi Embassy.
The two programs include providing 20,000 iftar meals for people breaking their fasting, and distributing 10 tons of dates to charities and Islamic centers in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Kavazovic said he appreciated the continuous support of the Saudi king and crown prince to Bosnia and Herzegovina and its people.
Kavazovic added that the king and crown prince have a special interest in Islam and Muslims worldwide, including this valuable annual gift.
The ministry launched a similar project in Jordan on Wednesday at the Saudi embassy in Amman, the SPA reported.
Abdullah Al-Dulaij, the Islamic counselor in charge of the embassy, said the program was an extension of the Saudi leadership’s long history of helping Muslims in need worldwide.
He praised the ministry’s efforts to implement the program to the fullest, and Saudi-Jordanian relations.
The program aims to distribute 12,500 meals to various Jordanian governorates, Palestinian and Syrian refugee camps, charities, orphanages, divorcees and widows.
Five tons of luxury dates will also be distributed, as will 5,000 copies of the Qur’an issued by the King Fahd Complex for the Printing of the Holy Qur’an in Madinah.
The ministry is implementing such programs in 60 countries during Ramadan this year.
