Saudi Arabia Successfully Completes Pilgrim Transfer to Mount Arafat with Advanced Operational Model

Saudi Arabia

Makkah, The Gulf Observer: Saudi Ministry of Hajj and Umrah has confirmed the successful and timely completion of pilgrim movement to Mount Arafat on the ninth day of Dhul Hijjah, a major milestone in the 1446 Hajj season. The transfer was carried out smoothly and without significant congestion, according to an official statement issued on Thursday.

The operation utilized a unified operational model integrating service and regulatory agencies through the Joint Operations and Dispatching Center — a standout innovation in this year’s Hajj.

Pilgrims were transported via modern air-conditioned buses and the Mashair Train, adhering to carefully calibrated schedules and supported by robust security arrangements. Their distribution across Arafat camps was orderly and efficient, reflecting the ministry’s enhanced logistical planning.

As part of its comprehensive strategy, the ministry employed advanced simulation exercises, field team readiness assessments, and real-time coordination among relevant agencies. Artificial intelligence (AI) was utilized to analyze live data, anticipate crowd density patterns, and dynamically adjust group movements.

A 24/7 monitoring center, equipped with a smart camera network, allowed for immediate decision-making and coordination with security and service providers on the ground.

The digital “Nusuk” card — embedded with a QR code and linked to both the “Nusuk” and “Tawakkalna” platforms — played a pivotal role in regulating pilgrim flow, tracking entries and exits, and ensuring punctuality and safety.

The ministry noted that the successful Arafat operation sets a strong precedent for upcoming stages of the pilgrimage, including the transfer to Muzdalifah and stone-throwing rituals at Mina. These are being implemented within a sustainable, tech-enabled framework designed to improve Hajj services for years to come.

The accomplishment reflects Saudi Arabia’s ongoing commitment to elevating the Hajj experience through innovation, collaboration, and a deep focus on pilgrim welfare.
