Saudi Arabia to Host Next Test Flight of Space Tourism Firm Halo Space

Riyadh, The Gulf Observer: Saudi Arabia will host the next test flight of space tourism firm Halo Space, it was announced on Wednesday. This significant event, conducted in collaboration with the Kingdom’s Communications, Space and Technology Commission (CST), will mark the sixth Halo Space test flight and is scheduled for September.
The upcoming flight will feature a life-size prototype capsule named Aurora, designed to ascend to 30 kilometers above the Earth’s surface. This test is crucial for validating the integrated operation of all critical systems developed by Halo Space over the past three years.
“The dates and location were set to ensure the reliable operation of our equipment and safe conditions for the teams that will be on the ground operating the flight,” stated Alberto Castrillo, Chief Technology Officer at Halo Space.
Since the beginning of the year, the CST has been supporting Halo Space, overseeing preparations for this pivotal test flight. Additionally, the CST has collaborated with other government entities, including the General Authority of Civil Aviation, to meet all regulatory requirements for the flight.
The decision to establish Halo Space’s flagship operational base and final assembly site in Saudi Arabia highlights the Kingdom’s ideal conditions for space exploration. This move underscores Saudi Arabia’s ambitions to be at the forefront of space tourism.
Halo Space’s prototype capsule test flights are a prelude to the launch of manned flights, expected to begin in 2025, with commercial flights slated to commence in 2026.
