Saudi Arabia’s National Media Strategy Still Under Review, Says Minister Al-Dosari

Riyadh, The Gulf Observer: Minister of Media Salman Al-Dosari confirmed on Wednesday that Saudi Arabia has not yet officially launched its national media strategy, stating that the comprehensive plan remains under review and will be formally announced in due course.
Speaking at a government press conference in Riyadh, Al-Dosari emphasized the transformation of the Kingdom’s media landscape, stating that Saudi media is shifting from simply conveying information to generating meaningful impact — a transition he described as moving “from medium to message.”
He also announced that the upcoming edition of the Saudi Media Forum will be held under the esteemed patronage of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud. The forum is envisioned as a national platform that aligns with global media trends and incorporates future-focused tools and technologies.
“2030 is no longer a date in the future — it symbolizes limitless ambition,” Al-Dosari remarked. “In Saudi Arabia, dreams aren’t told, they’re built. Tomorrow doesn’t wait; it’s accomplished today.”
Advancing Saudi Arabia’s Humanitarian Vision
Highlighting the Kingdom’s growing global humanitarian presence, Al-Dosari underscored efforts to transform charitable aid into a comprehensive, sustainable humanitarian system. He pointed to the achievements of the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center (KSrelief), which has implemented over 3,500 development and relief initiatives across 108 countries, amounting to more than SAR 30 billion in assistance.
He also revealed that Saudi Arabia’s overseas voluntary medical campaigns have successfully conducted approximately 230,000 surgeries, further demonstrating the Kingdom’s commitment to international welfare and healthcare support.
The Saudi Program for the Development and Reconstruction of Yemen has additionally provided over SAR 4.27 billion in funding for more than 265 projects in key sectors such as roads, water, health, and education, reflecting the Kingdom’s strategic focus on regional stability and development.
Embracing Innovation and the Digital Economy
Turning to the realm of technology and innovation, Minister Al-Dosari affirmed Saudi Arabia’s commitment to sustainable development as a shared, cross-border responsibility.
“We are crafting the algorithms of the future, turning data into decisions and artificial intelligence into development,” he stated, highlighting the Kingdom’s ambition to play a leading role in the global digital transformation.
According to Al-Dosari, the Kingdom’s digital economy reached SAR 495 billion in 2024, representing 15% of national GDP and growing at an annual rate of nearly 7%. The number of technology companies listed on the Saudi stock exchange surged to 23 in 2024, up from only two in 2020.
“Today, we don’t just consume technology — we contribute to building it with a value-driven and human-centered vision,” he affirmed.
As Saudi Arabia continues its pursuit of Vision 2030 objectives, the forthcoming media strategy is expected to play a pivotal role in reinforcing the Kingdom’s narrative, enhancing global engagement, and advancing both its technological and humanitarian missions.
