Saudi Cabinet Expresses Hope Sharm El-Sheikh Peace Summit Will Advance Two-State Solution

Solution

Riyadh, The Gulf Observer: The Council of Ministers, chaired by Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, expressed the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s hope that the Sharm El-Sheikh Peace Summit, held on Monday, will pave the way toward achieving a two-state solution and the establishment of an independent Palestinian state.

In a statement to the Saudi Press Agency following the weekly session, Minister of Media Salman Al-Dossary said the Cabinet emphasized that the peace summit—hosted by the Arab Republic of Egypt to address the situation in Gaza—should bolster regional security and stability, alleviate the humanitarian suffering of the Palestinian people, and ensure Israel’s complete withdrawal from Gaza.

The Council underscored the importance of translating the outcomes of the summit into practical steps toward a just and comprehensive peace based on the two-state solution, leading to the creation of an independent Palestinian state along the 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital.

At the outset of the meeting, the Cabinet reviewed the contents of the message sent by King Salman and Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman to King Mohammed VI of Morocco, as well as details of a phone conversation received by the Crown Prince from King Abdullah II of Jordan.

It urged full implementation of the Jeddah Declaration, signed on May 11, 2023, to prevent further suffering and destruction in Sudan.

Al-Dossary added that the Cabinet reviewed progress in the work of joint committees between Saudi Arabia and several friendly nations, highlighting efforts to enhance bilateral relations, expand cooperation, and promote shared interests in diverse sectors.

The Cabinet lauded the Kingdom’s successful hosting of several international conferences and forums, including the 25th Scientific Forum for Hajj, Umrah, and Visit Research, held under the patronage of King Salman. The forum’s innovative initiatives were praised for their potential to improve services provided to pilgrims.

The Council further highlighted the launch of the MENA Asset Recovery Inter-Agency Network, describing it as a major step toward building advanced mechanisms to combat corruption and money laundering in the region.

In recognition of national scientific excellence, the Cabinet congratulated Saudi scientist Dr. Omar Yaghi, Co-Director of the KACST–UC Berkeley Center of Excellence, on winning the 2025 Nobel Prize in Chemistry, describing the achievement as a testament to the Kingdom’s commitment to supporting research, innovation, and scientific talent.
