Saudi Crown Prince Engages Gulf and Western Leaders in Urgent Talks Amid Escalation Following Strikes on Iran

Riyadh, The Gulf Observer: Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman held a series of telephone conversations on Sunday with leaders of several Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) member states, as well as international counterparts, to discuss the rapidly deteriorating situation in the region following recent Israeli and U.S. attacks on Iran, the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported.
According to SPA, the Crown Prince spoke individually with King Hamad bin Isa Al-Khalifa of Bahrain, Sultan Haitham bin Tariq of Oman, Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani of Qatar, and Emir Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah of Kuwait. He also received a call from President Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al-Nahyan of the United Arab Emirates.
The high-level discussions focused on the latest regional developments, particularly the intensifying hostilities following Israel’s continued military actions and the U.S. airstrikes on Iranian nuclear facilities carried out earlier on Sunday.
During the exchanges, the GCC leaders reaffirmed their unity and solidarity in light of the current tensions, emphasizing the need for joint efforts to maintain regional stability, exercise restraint, and avoid further escalation. They collectively underscored the importance of pursuing diplomatic channels to resolve the crisis and prevent wider conflict.
In addition to regional outreach, Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman also received phone calls from French President Emmanuel Macron and Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni. The conversations centered on the regional security implications following the U.S. strikes and the broader geopolitical impact of the escalation.
The Crown Prince reiterated the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s firm stance on the importance of restraint, dialogue, and diplomacy, reaffirming that all disputes should be resolved through peaceful means and international engagement.
The coordinated diplomatic efforts come amid rising concern over the potential for widespread instability in the Middle East, as major powers and regional actors work to contain the fallout from the military operations targeting Iranian assets.
