Saudi Crown Prince to Address UN High-Level Conference on Palestinian Issue and Two-State Solution

New York, The Gulf Observer: Saudi Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman will participate in the upcoming United Nations high-level conference on the Palestinian issue and the two-state solution, scheduled for September 22 in New York. His remarks will be delivered either through a live remote connection or a pre-recorded message.

The UN General Assembly unanimously adopted an oral draft resolution presented by Saudi Arabia approving the Crown Prince’s participation. The conference, co-chaired by Saudi Arabia and France, will be held on the sidelines of the General Assembly’s high-level week and will bring together heads of state and government to discuss ways to advance the two-state solution and mobilize international support.

The initiative underscores broad international backing, with UN member states and observer delegations endorsing the Saudi-French efforts and reaffirming the recognition of a Palestinian state as the only internationally agreed framework for peace. Delegates also stressed the importance of concrete outcomes, including rejecting annexation and forced displacement, supporting the Palestinian Authority and UNRWA, and preserving political momentum for the peace process.

Saudi Arabia’s leadership in convening the conference was praised as pivotal in rallying collective action and sustaining diplomatic engagement on the Palestinian cause.

In a related development, the General Assembly approved a resolution granting Palestine the right to deliver its statement via pre-recorded video during the debate. The resolution was adopted with 145 votes in favor, 5 against, and 6 abstentions. It also expressed regret over the United States’ refusal to issue visas for Palestinian representatives, as well as the cancellation of previously issued visas, which prevented their in-person participation.
