Second Edition of “Terhal” Immersive Show Opens in Diriyah, Showcasing Saudi Heritage Through Cutting-Edge Performance

Second Edition

Riyadh, The Gulf Observer: The second edition of the immersive theatrical performance “Terhal” opened to enthusiastic audiences on Sunday evening at the Mayadeen venue in Diriyah, captivating crowds with its vivid storytelling and groundbreaking artistic presentation. Organized by the Ministry of Culture, the show will run through August 25, continuing to celebrate the essence of Saudi identity through an innovative fusion of visual, musical, and theatrical elements.

“Terhal”—Saudi Arabia’s first-of-its-kind live performance combining natural landscapes with advanced stage technologies—chronicles the journey of a young Saudi named Saad. As he travels across the Kingdom in search of his roots and future aspirations, Saad embodies the interwoven dreams of the past and hopes for tomorrow.

Drawing inspiration from the Kingdom’s diverse geography, the production integrates scenic visuals with dynamic lighting, immersive soundscapes, and acrobatic displays. It further enhances audience engagement through the inclusion of traditional music, culinary arts, folk crafts, and culturally rich motifs, offering a powerful representation of Saudi heritage through interactive and emotive storytelling.

Following the success of its 2023 debut, the second edition of “Terhal” builds on its acclaim with expanded scale, refined technical design, and heightened creative ambition. This year’s production brings together a mix of Saudi talents and international experts in immersive theater, setting new benchmarks in cultural performance.

The Ministry of Culture aims for “Terhal” to serve not only as a world-class artistic experience but also as a reflection of Saudi Arabia’s cultural diversity and its growing stature as a global creative hub. Through such initiatives, the Kingdom continues to highlight its commitment to preserving heritage while embracing modernity and innovation in the arts.
