Senior CPC Official Urges Firm Efforts for National Reunification

Beijing, The Gulf Observer: Wang Huning, a senior official of the Communist Party of China (CPC) and Chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference, emphasized the need for unwavering efforts to advance the cause of national reunification during a two-day meeting on Taiwan affairs held in Beijing.
Wang, a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, stressed the resolute implementation of the Party’s overall policy for resolving the Taiwan question in the new era. He underscored the significance of adhering to the decisions and plans made by the CPC Central Committee concerning Taiwan-related work.
Highlighting the progress made in cross-strait relations in the past year, Wang pointed out the consolidation and expansion of international commitment to the one-China principle. He called for a strengthening of the strategic initiative for China’s complete reunification.
This year marks the 75th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China, and Wang emphasized the crucial nature of this year in achieving the goals outlined in the 14th Five-Year Plan (2021-2025). He urged a strong sense of responsibility and mission in carrying out Taiwan-related work.
Upholding the one-China principle and the 1992 Consensus was stressed by Wang, who called for advancing peaceful development in cross-Strait relations. He urged efforts to expand exchanges and cooperation between the two sides, deepen integrated development, and jointly promote Chinese culture to strengthen bonds between compatriots across the Strait.
Wang explicitly called for strong measures against “Taiwan independence” separatist forces and external interference to safeguard peace and stability in the Strait. He underlined the importance of upholding and strengthening the Party’s overall leadership over Taiwan-related work.
Presiding over the meeting, Wang Yi, a member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and director of the Office of the Foreign Affairs Commission of the CPC Central Committee, facilitated discussions to reinforce the Party’s stance on Taiwan affairs.
