Serdar Berdimuhamedov Holds Official Talks with Xi Jinping in Beijing

Beijing, The Gulf Observer: President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov, during his working visit to the People’s Republic of China, arrived in Beijing on a special train from Tianjin, where he was warmly received in line with the traditions of Chinese hospitality.

In the afternoon, President Berdimuhamedov proceeded to the Great Hall of the People, where he was officially welcomed by President of the People’s Republic of China Xi Jinping.

Chairman Xi Jinping extended a cordial welcome to the Head of Turkmenistan, expressing appreciation for his acceptance of the invitation to visit China. He also conveyed warm greetings to the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty, Hero Arkadag Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov. The Chinese leader congratulated Turkmenistan on successfully hosting the Third UN Conference on Landlocked Developing Countries in the Avaza National Tourist Zone and recalled with satisfaction his previous meeting with President Berdimuhamedov within the framework of the Central Asia–China Summit.

For his part, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov expressed gratitude for the invitation and hospitality, while congratulating President Xi Jinping on the successful organization of the SCO Summit and the 80th anniversary of the Victory. He also conveyed the best wishes of Hero Arkadag.

During the discussions, both leaders emphasized the high level of Turkmen-Chinese relations, underscoring China’s support for Turkmenistan’s policy of permanent neutrality. President Berdimuhamedov reaffirmed Turkmenistan’s support for the Global Governance Initiative presented by China at the SCO Summit.

Chairman Xi Jinping congratulated Turkmenistan on the 30th anniversary of its neutrality and praised the country’s peace-oriented foreign policy.

The gas industry was highlighted as a strategic pillar of bilateral cooperation. President Berdimuhamedov announced that a Chinese company had won the international tender for the development of the fourth stage of the Galkynysh gas field and informed that a draft General Agreement on the principles of gas cooperation had been prepared. Chairman Xi Jinping expressed gratitude for Turkmenistan’s support of Chinese companies and confirmed Beijing’s readiness to deepen energy cooperation.

The talks also addressed the compatibility of Turkmenistan’s “Revival of the Great Silk Road” strategy with China’s “One Belt, One Road” initiative, as well as prospects for expanding cooperation in transport, logistics, education, science, and cultural exchange. President Berdimuhamedov expressed appreciation for China’s support of Turkmen students studying in Chinese universities and noted Turkmenistan’s interest in strengthening educational and scientific ties.

The Head of State further emphasized the growing importance of parliamentary, public, women’s, and youth diplomacy. He also invited President Xi Jinping to participate in the international forum in Ashgabat on December 12, 2025, dedicated to the UN-declared “International Year of Peace and Trust.”

Chairman Xi Jinping expressed gratitude for the invitation, reaffirming China’s respect for Turkmenistan’s neutrality and commitment to peace. He also underlined the importance of the current summit, stressing China’s readiness to further strengthen mutually beneficial cooperation with Turkmenistan.

At the conclusion of the meeting, both leaders expressed confidence in the continued development of Turkmen-Chinese relations for the benefit of the two friendly nations and exchanged best wishes.
